Pastel Sunrise Ball Python

Description :
This very particular kind of Pastel comes from our Canadian friends Stav and Denis. Pastel Sunrise were obtained by breeding a "standard" Bell Pastel male with a specific wild female. Indeed, bred with other females, this male gave standard Pastel babies. This normal female seems to hold specific genes participating in the completely particular appearance of the Pastel Sunrise.

Hatchlings from those parents perfectly look like Super Pastel babies. The top of their head and their labial scales are very clear. They also have a specific trait on their pattern because two clear stripes starting from the rostrum to cross the sides of the head passing through eyes and joining up on the neck of each baby to form a Y. The "tail" of this Y crosses in a continuous line the back of most of the specimens on all its length to extend till the end of the tail. Certain specimens have an interrupted dorsal line but the odds are that they will be able to pass on this specificity. In addition to this specificity, this kind of Pastel has an other trump, which inspired us its naming "Pastel Sunrise". Indeed, they have a yellow colour which has nothing to do with standard Pastel. This yellow, rather orange in fact, is very "clean" in addition to be very steady. It gives a yellow orange body without any black pigmentation. On the head and in its continuation, this yellow orange colour is replaced with an almost white yellow which then joins in a gradation the the whole colour of the body of the animal. The dark zones of the animal are in some parts of the body a steady black and leave in clearer gradations giving a very attractive faded appearance.

We have got a sub adult male we continue to make growing before breeding him. We think that he will be ready to breed for 2009/2010.
