"Crawl Cay" Boa

Description :
"Crawl Cay" boa, (Boa constrictor imperator), is a snake found on an archipelago located off Belize coast, in central America. Crawl Cay island belongs to a group of islands surrounding a big lagoon. Its surface is about 2 km2 and is mainly covered with mangrove swamps and sandy areas.

"Crawl Cay" boa maxes out from 1,20m to 2m, and weighes around 4kg.

This snake has the peculiarity to change its color very quickly going from almost white to very brown dark. The scales of this snake are strongly iridescent and embellish its pattern with sensational colors.

Another peculiarity of this snake is that the babies of the same litter can be very different in colors and patterns, including among others, hypomelanic, axantic or for example strongly black spotted specimens.

The first French captive born specimens were produced by Philippe few years ago.

Their descendants have been reproduced repeatedly into breedings. Some crossings have probably been done between Crawl Cay boas with the other boa constrictors.

This is the reason why we decided to take a rare opportunity offered. Indeed, we bought back the breeder male (sold by Philip few years ago) at the origin of all the Crawl Cay born in France.

This will allow us to restart with this founder male breeding it to direct and certified descendant females.

Philippe wrote a long article into 2 Reptilmag magazine issues speaking about the original story of the "French" Crawl Cay. Its reading could tell you a lot about this strain and its breeding in captivity and would help to dissipate all the rumours circulating about this subject.
